Jump starting a white van on a frosty industrial estate

A van that will not start is a day’s work that does not start either. Vans sit outside overnight, run tail lifts, fridges, chargers and beacons, and do lots of short stops. All of that is hard on a battery, especially on a cold morning.

Van jump starts: what we cover

Most vans and light commercial vehicles, petrol and diesel. Not sure about yours? Give us the make and model on the phone and you get a yes or no there and then.

Building sites and yards are fine: tell us about gates and access.

Where

At the house, on a building site, at the yard or by the side of the road. If the van is in a basement car park or behind a gate, tell us how we get to it.

Ten minutes that save a morning

  • Switch off anything that runs from the battery overnight: inverters, fridges, phone chargers, beacons
  • If the van has a second battery for equipment, tell us when you call
  • If the battery has been in the van for several winters and this is not its first jump, get us to check it while we are with you

If it happens again

One flat battery is bad luck. Two in a week is a pattern, and the battery or the charging is worth checking before it costs another morning.

Questions about this

Can you do a van with a second battery?

Tell us about it when you call. We will tell you which battery we need to reach.

Can you come to a building site?

Yes, if we can get to the van safely. Tell us about gates, access times and where it is parked.

Do you do large trucks?

We cover vans and light commercial vehicles. For anything bigger, ask on the phone first.
